Two people were killed and another was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash in Halton Hills on July 14. By the following day, no one had been charged in relation to the commercial vehicleaccident, which involved a dump truck, but an investigation by a collision reconstruction unit was underway.
The accident occurred at the intersection of Trafalgar Road and 5 Side Road around 6 p.m. A dump truck collided with a sedan before striking a light standard, leaving the roadway and traveling into a cornfield. The dump truck’s fuel tank ruptured during the accident, causing the vehicle’s front end to catch fire.
The force of the impact threw two of the car’s four occupants from the vehicle. It was not confirmed, but these are likely the passengers who died. A helicopter crew airlifted the sedan driver to Sunnybrook Hospital after he was extricated from the car. He was listed in serious but stable condition on July 15. It was not reported if the fourth sedan occupant or the dump truck driver suffered any injuries.
