Several people were injured in a multiple-vehicle crash in Burlington that occurred on April 28. According to an OPP constable, a minor collision that occurred around 6:35 p.m. on Highway 403 led to a police officer pulling over to the shoulder of the road along with five other vehicles. As the officer was investigating the accident, a 44-year-old man who was driving a passing black Cadillac SUV ran into several of the vehicles parked alongside the road and struck two other vehicles.
A man and woman who suffered life-threatening injuries were rushed to the hospital by ambulance, according to police. One of the victims is a 59-year-old Burlington woman who was driving one of the vehicles that pulled over to the shoulder of the road. The other is the man who was driving the Cadillac SUV. Three children who were occupants in another car that pulled over to the shoulder of the road suffered minor injuries and were transported to the hospital.
Highway 403 was shut down in a westbound direction for several hours while the accident was being investigated by Transport Canada and police. It has since reopened. Vehicles damaged in the accident included two tow trucks and a Toyota Yaris. Authorities say the cause of the accident has not yet been determined.
