Pedestrian dies in Toronto 2-car accident

A Toronto two-car collision left a pedestrian dead and three people injured on Aug. 7. The pedestrian accident occurred on Yonge Street near the intersection of Cummer Avenue around 4:15 p.m. when a Dodge Charger and an Acura TSX collided. The force of the impact sent the Charger off the roadway, where it struck a 42-year-old man, fatally injuring him.

A 22-year-old woman was traveling northbound in the Acura and began to turn left into a residential driveway off of Yonge Street. As she was turning, a 29-year-old man driving the southbound Dodge Charger collided with her vehicle. The Charger travelled off the road to the southwest corner of the intersection where it struck a traffic signal pole. The Charger struck the pedestrian as it veered off the road.

Emergency first responders pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene of the accident. The Charger’s driver and an unidentified passenger who was riding with him suffered unspecified non-life-threatening injuries in the crash. They were both taken to hospital. The Acura’s driver suffered minor injuries. Reports did not indicate that she was taken to hospital.

While reports did not disclose whether police had identified a cause of the accident or any possible contributing factors, it is possible that the driver of the Acura was distracted when she was turning into the driveway and did not see the Charger coming toward her. While the Dodge’s occupants’ injuries were described as non-life-threatening, they may have suffered serious bodily trauma that could temporarily or permanently keep them returning to their routines at home or at work. Personal injury lawyers may be able to help victims identify what damages they may have suffered as a result of their accidents and advise them on the process of seeking compensation.
